Rainy Day, Thyroid Issues, and Wishlist Wednesday

I just have to say... rainy weather + thyroid issues = sleepydon'twanttodoanything. Sigh.

View from my office window. Rainy.

I'm pretty sure I'm having some thyroid issues again. They haven't checked my levels since at least a month before S was born and I've been having a TON of trouble with fatigue and feeling like I'm getting sick (but then I don't). I'll get a full night's sleep on the weekend and then will be falling asleep on the couch at 3:00 in the afternoon. Grrr... It was all I could do to make myself walk at work yesterday. I wanted to sit like a blob and do nothing. But I did it! I did not, however, make it for an after-work run. Oops. I know I'm going to have to make an appointment and go to the doctor, but I've been putting it off because I feel like one more doctor bill might just make my head explode.

The last two nights, S has slept from 7:30 until 4 or 5 the next morning. Yay! I think the only things that wake him up are the need for a fresh diaper and the fact that his little hands get chilly. After you change him and feed him, he usually goes back to sleep for another couple of hours. He's been such an easygoing baby, I'm afraid what will happen if we have another one. My sister is still baffled by the fact that he "just falls asleep on his own." I didn't realize that was a novelty, but I'll take it.

Since we only have one car, Cody has to drop me off at the bus stop for work, so little man gets to go for a short ride every morning. He usually just coos and chatters quietly. If you woke me up at 5:30, strapped me into a seat, and took me out in the cold -I'd be pretty cranky. He just goes with it. I really hope he keeps this personality when he's a teenager :O).

Other than being able to snag some quick baby snuggles, the best part of my morning was when I got to work to find my boss left a Diet Coke on my desk. So sweet! I'm hoping the caffeine will give me the extra boost I need to me a productive human being today. We'll see.

Side note: don't judge me too harshly for blogging at work. We just finished our fiscal year and can't do anything for a few days while we wait for money. I'm not a horrible person...honest.

And last, but not least - a quick Wishlist Wednesday item:

ProForm PRO 2000 Treadmill

Isn't it beautiful? Normal price is $1999, but it's on sale right now for $1299. One of my must-have's for a treadmill is a 60" deck. I don't like feeling like I'm going to either kick the front or fall of the back. This one is 22" wide as well - for a little extra elbow room. Another one of my must-have's is a 350 lb. weight limit. Even when I was quite a bit slimmer, I prefer to have a treadmill with the higher weight limit so it is extra-stable and there isn't even a hint of wobble if I want to do sprints. Like my current treadmill, this one had the built-in speakers and fan, but this one also comes with a tablet holder and iFit compatibility so you can connect to Google maps and have the treadmill automatically simulate running all over the world. So fancy! This is definitely on the list of things for "when we become fabulously wealthy" ... or if I decide to sell that kidney.

So Close... and Yet.../Wishlist Wednesday

My alarm went off at 4:00 am...and I hit snooze a couple of times. Then I lay in bed thinking about how I really HAD to get up and do a run. There was quite an internal debate between Sleepy Megan and Wants-to-be-a-Runner-Again Megan. Lola ended up clinching the decision, as she wouldn't stop whining at me. She can be very persuasive when she's not doing this...

Once I was up, I got dressed and was excited to get started. I had Pretty Little Liars cued up on Netflix and was ready to cruise. My hope was to keep things at a slow jog and see how long I could hang on to that. Weeelll... That lasted about two minutes. So I decided to get real and stick to intervals. I ended up doing 1 minute walk, 1 minute jog because for some reason my lower back decided to act up. Grrrrr... But I was determined to persevere. This lasted for a whole 11 minutes before my treadmill started to make an awful thunking noise. WTF?!?!

I stopped the belt immediately and tried to see if there was something simple I could fix. No such luck. I'm going to have my fella take a look at it tonight and see if he can figure out what's going on. I love my treadmill. His name is Miles. I've trained for multiple 5k's and 10k's, as well as a half, and most of a marathon on this baby. He's been with me for almost 8 years. If he dies I will be forced to go into mourning like some sort of Victorian widow. I would also need to get cool with running in the dark. I'm seriously hoping he magically heals before I get home this evening.

This is the face of morning. It's not pretty and it didn't get a full run.

And now for a few Wishlist Wednesday Items:

1. Freedom Planner. As an avid list maker, I love planners - even though I usually use them for a few weeks, and end up finding a mostly empty planner months later. I like that this isn't just a regular day planner. It is structured to help you outline your goals and formulate steps to achieve them. I've seen other, similar planners - but they seemed a bit too touchy-feely for me. This one seems to have just enough structure to help you get things outlined without being condescending. Life is hard enough without feeling like your day planner is patronizing you.

Best Calendar Planner & Organization Journal. Monthly, Weekly, Daily Notebook Planner. Motivational, Diet Journal, Student / Business Planner & Personal Life Coach. Undated Notebook - Freedom Planner

2. Teething Keys. Okay, this one is more of a "we'll be buying this soon" item. We're pretty sure the tiny drooly one is starting to teethe, but he can't quite seem to get the hang of the couple of teething toys we have now. I like that these can be refrigerated and even if he doesn't like chewing on it, I think he will love waving it around since it looks easy to hold on to. I'll let you know how it turns out if/when we buy these.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Film Camera
3. Fuji Instant Film Camera. Even if we could afford it, I'm not sure I would spend the money, but I've always loved the instant gratification of Polaroids and this seems to be the next generation. This has a neat retro look and feel that houses what appears to be a really decent little camera. There are multiple shooting modes and features such as an adjustable flash and self timer. I'm thinking this would go on a wish list labeled "I can't justify buying, but I want it so bad."

4. Younique Lip Bonbons - Tinted Lip Balm. This is one of those things I plan to save up and splurge on. While I balk a little bit at spending $20 for lip balm when you could just spend $2 on some plain old chapstick, I am also a sucker for good packaging. The metal tube is really high quality and has a really neat feel to it and the lip balm itself has a really nice color without being overwhelming. I think I may add this to my list of rewards for reaching my next weight loss goal. The best tinted lip balms come in packs of five.

What's on your wish list?

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions for a teething little one?

Wish List Wednesday

Hello everyone! I was thinking yesterday that I would love to be able to review fabulous running and/or baby paraphernalia to share with everyone, but since funds are a bit tight, I figured the next best thing would be to share things that I've researched and have in my mental "when we have money" list.

1. Brooks Launch 3
Product Details
Current running shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15
Wishlist item: Brooks Launch 3

I am currently using the Adrenaline GTS 15's in a truly delightful green and due to my limited mileage lately, they still have quite a few miles left on them, but as a shoe lover, I can't help but drool over the Brooks website. I like the lightweight design and mesh upper of the Launch 3's and would love to give them a try someday.

2. Mix Match Dobby Be Free Knicker
Athleta is pretty much always on my wish list. Their clothes are always stylish and the items that I've had over the years are amazing and never wear out. While they are fairly pricey, it is totally worth it to save up for an item that you will use regularly. The one pair of capris I have has outlasted about four pairs that I've gotten at Walmart. These babies are on my reward list for 50 pounds lost (only 32 to go!).

Wish list item: Mix Match Dobby Be Free Knicker

3. Baby Bandana Drool Bibs by Daulia
These babies are a little further up on the wish list due to necessity and affordability. I believe little man is starting to teethe, so the drool has been a-flowing. One of my co-workers has twins and uses something similar to these and I instantly thought "must have!" and took to Amazon to research.

Wish list item: Drool Bibs

4. Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair
This is another item that will likely be purchased soon. My sister has been amazing and saved all of her baby stuff for us, but with the limited space we have, I really like the thought of using a space that's already occupied. The reviews for this are amazing and the safety stats are great. As soon as we can save up for one, I will report back to see if it's worth the hype.

Wish list item: Space Saver High Chair...baby not included

So there you have it: my current top wish list items. I will keep you posted if/when I acquire the  more attainable items to see if they were worth it. In the meantime, it's fun to dream.
